Important details

  • Town of Catskill: accessory apartments must be 400–800 sq ft, no more than 2 bedrooms, with site plan review by the Planning Board and a building permit.
  • Village of Catskill (April 2025 law): ADUs must have a separate exterior entrance and cannot share kitchen, living, sleeping, or bathroom spaces with the main residence. Owner must live on the property at least 180 days per year.
  • Off-street parking required on the same parcel. Long-term rental of the unit the owner does not occupy is permitted.
  • Greene County does not participate in any Plus One ADU Program. Plus One programs operate in Ulster, Columbia, Orange, and Sullivan counties (RUPCO) and Dutchess County (Hudson River Housing).
